There are over 400 different species of bacteria living in the body. The body contains both harmful and beneficial bacteria.
Harmful bacteria can cause many health related problems such as various infections, diarrhea, headaches, & fatigue.
Good bacteria aids in digestion, enhances your immune system, and fights off harmful bacteria. However, good bacteria can be destroyed by taking various antibiotics, stress, a suppressed immune system from being ill, or by eating a poor diet.
What are Prebiotics and Probiotics?
Probiotics are living bacteria. They aid in restoring the good bacteria back into the body.
Sources: Fermented foods including yogurt, sauerkraut, and supplements containing acidophilus.
Prebiotics help stimulate the growth of the healthy bacteria.
Sources: Fiber-rich foods including fruit, vegetables, beans, and whole grains
Bottom Line: Include fruits, vegetables, and yogurt regularly in
your diet to maintain a good level of healthy bacteria in your body.
